Chinese Zodiacs
An important part of the Chinese New Year celebrations is the zodiac of the year. The Chinese zodiac consists of 12 different zodiacs in the form of an animal. 2025 is the Year of the Snake.
Each year, an art project is linked to the zodiac of the year. These projects can be admired throughout the city.
From January 29 to February 9, you can discover no fewer than 6 of these artworks in de Markthal.
Snake
We have the honor of showcasing this year's zodiac. Various artists have contributed to it.
The Snake is the 6th animal in the cycle. The Snake often exhibits passion and possessive behavior. It finds it difficult to show true emotions and will persist until its goal is achieved.
Characteristics: Mysterious, creative, sentimental, passionate, confident, active.
Love: The Snake is a good match with an Ox or Rooster.
Friendship: The Snake is often good friends with a Rooster, Dragon, and Ox.

Ox
The Chinese Ox is a hard worker and knows how to get things done. The Ox is quick to judge others and sees things in black and white, with no middle ground. If an Ox is in a bad mood, it's best to stay away.
Characteristics: Restless, hardworking, active, popular, supportive, persistent.
Love: The Ox is a good match with a Snake or Rooster.

Horse
The Horse is solution-oriented, loyal to family and friends, talented, temperamental, and can be quite hot-tempered.

Goat
The Chinese Goat (sometimes also called Sheep) is a true nature lover. They are artistic, creative individuals who strive for perfection. Despite their perfectionist nature, they can also be quite insecure. Goats/Sheep have good manners.
Characteristics: Creative, sincere, emotional, kind, honest, sometimes stubborn.
Love: A Goat is often seen with a Horse or Rabbit.
Friendship: As a Goat, your best friends are likely a Rabbit, Snake, or Horse.

Rooster
The Chinese Rooster cannot handle criticism, is direct, and speaks its mind. The Rooster is refined, often thinks deeply, and wants to present itself well.
Characteristics: Protective, charming, tender, bold, popular, persistent.
Love: A Rooster will quickly fall for an Ox or Snake.
Friendship: In friendships, the Rooster is often seen with an Ox or Snake.

Pig
The Pig (also called Boar) is a reliable animal. Pigs enjoy life and have a big heart.
Characteristics: Social, honest, ambitious, kind-hearted, modest, friendly.
Love: A perfect match is with a Rabbit, Goat, or Dragon.
Friendship: Besides a Dragon, the Pig prefers to befriend a Dog or Goat.
