Cromwijk Cheese is a family business with a long and proud history. The company was founded in 1968 by Arie Cromwijk, a farmer’s son with a passion for cheese. He opened his first shop on Gaesbeekstraat in Rotterdam and quickly became a familiar face at the city’s outdoor markets. Two years later, he opened a second shop on Zwaanshals, where he met his wife. Together, they expanded the business and, in 1978, shifted their focus entirely to the markets.

Today, the second generation — Mark and Nathalie Cromwijk — continues the tradition. For over twenty years, they have welcomed 3,000 to 3,500 customers every week, all coming for their favorite cheeses and the warm, personal service Cromwijk is known for.
