Markthal

The design of the Markthal has opted for solutions that reduce the use of resources. For example, we use geothermal energy and we do not have gas connections for heating. This is important because fossil fuels and drinking water are becoming increasingly scarce. At the same time, we must reduce CO2 emissions to combat global warming. In the Netherlands, a large part of the CO2 emissions comes from heating and cooling buildings with fossil fuels. That is why the government has decided that from 2020 onwards, only energy-neutral buildings will be built.
