BREEAM
Certification
In order to keep our joint environmental impact as small as possible, a BREEAM certification is very important. During the construction of the Markthal, the goal was to obtain a BREEAM-NL New Construction Very Good certificate (minimum 55%) for the retail function. BREEAM-NL assesses the sustainability performance of buildings. And we succeeded!
This success was partly possible due to the involvement of users, managers and owners. The Markthal received the Very Good certificate from the Dutch Green Building Council.
Since 2024, the Markthal has also been included in BREEAM-NL In-Use, aimed at continuously improving existing buildings. The sustainability categories are about management, health, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use & ecology, and pollution.
And did you know that Markthal is also ISO 14001 certified? This means that we have drawn up an environmental manual that meets the requirements as described in the ISO 14001 standard and that this (management) system is being implemented. We work with this on a daily basis.
